I'm with Fanboy, the guy who wrote the letter in the first post.
But I'd go even farther than he did. Even among the 3 movies of the original trilogy, there was a step downhill trend. Star Wars itself was dynamite; I saw it in the theatre when it was new and
loved it.
The next two were a letdown. And the last one, with that incredibly stupid "ewok battle", where they trip the walkers with ropes, oh FFS, that was such trash.
And I'm old enough to remember THX1138, as well. I saw that when it was new also
