depends on what your style of play is, Like the Baron says, to each his/her own. that's the fun of the game. Each special tech has good weapons along with weaknesses/strengths. If playing straight, no special tech trait, I like wave motion gun, incinerator beam, and null weapons. you have to adjust to what your enemy uses against you including their types of shields, armor, etc. Example, if your enemy loves seekers then you know to load up heavily on PD's, if they use CV's and ftrs, again, heavy in PD's, if heavy in shields then look more into shield depleaters, etc.
