If you are classifying something as infantry, you are telling the game code that it is to use the infantry-specific icons. These are based on the number of men in the section. Any vehicle type icon you placed with mobhack of course be ignored as irrelevant by the game code. 0 (zero) is therefore the correct infantry icon assignment.

So - no you cannot override the infantry icon assignment code.
