Yes, kept trying and connected eventually. It was strange could connect to the port 11112 game fine but not the port 11111. Just tried connecting a hour ago, could not get to either but I expect later I will be able too fine. I will just treat it as a quirk.
So long as you never force host it, I should be okay, I think and not miss a turn.
