A 'rainbow' oracle is a quite unusual pretender, and not efficient for points (each new path costs 40). You can't really do very much with it, why not take a human pretender instead?
Luck is not that important for Pythium, it has a huge gem income to start with and its heroes are not that great.
If you had awesome scales you could have hired mercenaries and indy troops to augment your forces. Arch Theurgs are very expensive and more than one or two isn't worth it for the start of the game, IMO. If your experience with Pythium is anything like mine, you'll probably find that hiring lots of indy commanders is a good idea, since their native leaders are not that good.
