Sounds pretty good. I have few questions about this.

Are the mods made for SE4 compatible with SE4 Gold? I think new AI files are needed to make AI build new things like drones.

How is the support for original SE4 going to continue? Is the SE4 Gold a must buy if you want to get the new features? Can you play multiplayer games with some people having original SE4 and some SE4 gold?
