Also, besides the gold, you get loads of extra gems, free troops, bigger chance of heros turning up, free magic items and spells like cross breeding give you better effects.
However, the first 20 turns are the most crucial and in that time, with those scales, you are at a serious disadvantage. Especially if you only have a small empire.
I think order is better for small maps, well the luck/turmoil/sloth/growth combo fantastic for big maps with a high dominion, 9 or 10 and a powerful combat pretender, dragon etc...
