I'm a little off topic here, but just because they are from a different dimension doesn't neccesarily mean they would be superior. They would still have to obey the physical laws of this universe while in this universe. The fact that they were able to move between dimensions would not by definition mean they would be better at manipulating matter in this dimension. They could probably come up with a bunch of really awesome weapons from their dimension, but as long as they are here, they would have no effect on natives from this realm.
You could also explain their lack of superiority by saying it was some phenomenon beyond their control that brought them here, and they dont' really have the power to come and go as they wish.
