Just after getting the 3.0 update, i played the scenario 171 "Facing the angry bear" that is set up in 2005.
This scenario is not too long, the battle is not taking place on a huge battle front with hundred of units to manage, and lots of actions.
So if you want to get a smaller SP scenario with troops and tanks, you should enjoy this one, despite it seems you are overwhelmed, your troops actually will surprise you (as long as you don't expose them too much
).
