Macah, I don't doubt your story, but I'd be surprised if most software pirates buy games, especially games that have a pretty functional demo, like dom3.

I cant see how "Pirates" hurt sales, most people that download a game would never buy it. And for Dominions lets tell the story how i got to buying Dominions 3.
After playing GalCiv 2 i was looking on the net for other TBS and i found in some Forum information about Dom2, and as it sounded interesting i decided to Download it. (you might say that there is a demo, but i dont like demos as i bougth too much games where the demo was nice, and then just began to suck later) So now i was the evil "Software-Pirate" that had "stolen" a game. But as i liked the game i decided to buy it, so i went to the shrapnel pages and noticed that there was a Dom3 coming up so i preordered it.
What i'm trying to say is that i dont see the cost of so called "Software Piracy", as in my example shrapnel/illwinter earned 50$ more through it.
And no i would not have bought it without testing it before.
btw. not that most "pirates" will buy the game, but if they weren't able to "pirate" it they wont have bought it either.
