That would be the latter, basically like the various "Game Stories" threads, only nowhere near the complexity, and all of them are linked in the same "universe". And the only reason the complexity (by that I mean the tiny details of what every ship, government official, etc. is doing) isn't there is because most of the people either didn't have time to do it, didn't have the experience to know how, or both.
For me, it was fun while I did it. I think it made me a much better writer, but in the end, I didn't have the time to create everything I wanted to do with my roleplay. Add in the fact that there were about three or four factions of leaders -- all wanting to do things differently -- fractured the community, and it just wasn't worth it for me anymore. I do hope they've reconciled everything now. I tried to create compromises while I was still active, but there were still a lot of unresolved disputes.
I would go back and check it out, but I still don't have any time to do RP properly. I barely get an hour of SE4 a week
