Our generous host (thanks Gandalf) reset the game and then I could connect, complete the turn and watch the disaster unfold (ALL WITHOUT STALING). My noble pretender then fell under a hail of arrows and then massed vine ogres arrived en masse and reduced some other stuff to a fine mince.
I knew I had forgotten to hand out all the magic items (whoops !!) and had perhaps a little too much faith in the spell arrow fend.
Regarding Ulm, you see I finally did arrive to help out
Its what good allies do, they come through when the going gets tough .... and the game is basically unwinnable
