Sure they work, they're just names.
I know the lenghth issue, so what about just "Ciclisti" "Muli" "Ausiliarie" "Grotta" and "Antipartigiani"? If I give you the whole name it's just for completeness, then you choose how to adapt them.
And what would it be a "canguru"? I find it only in non-italian pages, probably an old error copied and copied again. In italian it's just Canguro (Kangaroo). If an italian tells you, you might as well believe it.
