Apparently, the Australian trade name for what the UK call Sellotape in the 70s was (Ahem)- Durex. This often resulted in Ozzie visitors to the UK being directed from the stationers to the chemists down the road

As A UKanian who had to go to USAnian Junior High in the late 60s - I remember making a mistake in science class (7th Grade) and turning to the girl behind me and asking if I could borrow her rubber..

- this is when I first found out that the American language has drifted far enough apart from the mother tongue not to be called "English" any more.
