Default Re: Battalion TOE Thread

I've been in the process of "correcting" the USMC OOB for some time now, I was just about done when v3.0 was released so I have to check all my alterations VS the new OOB.

The "corrections" are mostly giving X3 radio codes to some weapon systems that as far as I can tell we never had (retired Jarhead here), such as the M24 Chaffee, M36 Jackson, M42 Duster, 20mm Vulcan, M548 Ammo Carr, and such.

But mostly creating "proper" combined arms TO's for the platoons and companies.

Each Infantry Company has a Weapons Platoon with (currently) 6 M60/M240 machineguns, and 6 LAW/SMAW whatever they're using this week, anti-tank teams, and 3 60mm mortars. The MG and AT teams are ALWAYS parceled out to the line platoons in the field, about 90% of the time each platoon gets 2 X MG and 1 X AT team. The other 3 AT teams are kept in reserve and used to bolster whichever area is most threatened by or the most likely approach by armored units. The mortars are never given to the platoons but form a "pocket artillery" battery at company level.
Each battalion has a Weapons Company with 50 cal's, auto grenade launchers, Dragon ATGM's, and 81mm mortars which are also ALWAYS given out to the companies (except the mortars).

Since the game won't let you cross-attach units (except in the editor) you get to deal with command/control problems or wind up deploying the Weapons Platoon en-mass.

Sorry for going into detail here but I don't recall how many time's I've had to explain to someone in the Army that just because US Marines TO&E doesn't list MG's and AT weapons at platoon level doesn't mean they're not there, we just keep them in a separate unit for garrison and training purposes.
