Well, in case anybody cares, I just got the March newsletter from my web host, spaceports.com. This is some unfortunate news.

Here it is in its entirety:
quote:
Greetings,
Starting this month, we have implemented a new transfer limit of 100 megabytes per day and one gigabyte per month. This is
necessary to keep our services free for all Users. Those of you who have paid for ad removal will continue under the previous
limits of 500 megabytes per day and 5 gigabytes per month.
If your site has outgrown the new limits, Tera-Byte offers web hosting packages with much more monthly transfer for only pennies per
day. Visit http://www.tera-byte.com for more information.
Also, during the next few weeks, we will be consolidating some of our older servers into one or two larger servers. If you are on
an older server, this may result in some brief downtime as your site is moved. You may receive a followup e-mail on this in the
weeks to come if it affects your site.
If you have any questions, please join the Spaceports support chat at http://www.spaceports.com/java-irc.htm or visit the Spaceports
forums at forum.spaceports.com.
Thanks!
Spaceports
These new bandwidth limits shouldn't affect my site, which had a total of 78 MB transfered in all of February. However, about 4-6 months ago, there was no transfer limit at all. Then they implemented 5 GB/month, and now this. I hope spaceports.com doesn't go the way of the dodo, cause they are the best free host I have ever seen.
