AFAIK the magic bonus site reduces base gem cost, but additional gems are only counted after you exceed the base gem cost, which should be a bug. So, you wasted the gems.

Well, not really wasted. If the base cost is 50, and I had put in 75 gems at a normal 100% cost site, I'm at +25.
If the base cost is 50 and I put in 75 gems at a 50% cost site (even though a minimum cast is 25), I'm still at +25.
The only way I'd save money would be to cast at the minimum and then recast when it's dispelled. Which isn't a good plan with Thetis
. But since I know I'm prone to mistakes, all my main guys had Goblets as a precaution, and I lost mostly chaff. Yay, less chaff!
