Got mine yesterday. Exhausted coming home but had to load it anyway. First time player. Got up at 5AM to give it another go.
I'm really favorably impressed by the level of detail.... and thanks to reading the Posts here, I remembered to load up my colony ships with population points from the homeworld before starting off....
My wife was looking over my shoulder yesterday so it shouldn't be long before I hear "can I try that?". Get yer own damned 'puter! Bah! I'll have to give her points for being a good mom 'n' stuff...
I'll have to download the ST mods soon, once I learn to play better.
