I;m a bit confused about what you're talking about, but there are two issues about such things. (1) Retreating from battle doesn't end a battlefield enchantment, but dying does. I thought this had been fixed, though I'm not sure. (2) The spell Mists of Deception produces soldiers which prevent the battle from ending ad infinitum. Hence if one side casts both Wrathful Skies and Mists of Deception then retreats, the opposing side has to survive 50 rounds of lightning.
