If I put a troop as far right as possible (in other words, to the very front of my lines), and my opponent does the same, how many grid squares will separate us? Thanks.

, I just calculated that there are 17 grid squares from front to back within your own side. So a mage at the farthest back of your lines would need a range 20 spell to effect one of his own troops at the very front line.
