Except during the first 22 days, you cannot be detected.
I just buy as many server nodes as I can, and research Personal Identification to get Intermediate Jobs as soon as possible. After that, it's possible to have near exponential growth of server nodes. Keep that up until day 14 or so, then do as much research as you can until day 22, then just tear everything down except for 2-3 bases.
After that, it's just a matter of staying under the radar long enough to build up your power to an unstoppable level.

You should be able to just download the Windows version and it should run fine. If not, try installing
Python and
Pygame and it should work fine then.
