The Baobhan Sidhe are really cool assassins once you've researched Lightning Bolt. In a pinch, they also do well massed with Storm Power + a Storm caster, easily recruited from the Sorceresses.
I haven't tried a bless strategy but rather went rainbow. Yeah, I was doing single-player; gimme a break. The javelin troops are not bad, and the extra HP help quite a bit in the survivability/morale department.
