Flippant? This is a game. I'd say its hardly being flippant. I'd also say its hardly the most explosive place on the planet right now, seeing how interconnected the three countries (Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela) are. You'll notice that Correa hasn't suspended economic contacts with Colombia, and though Chavez keeps threatening too he hasn't either.
Right now its a lot of posturing, really for benefit of the larger political scene in the region. That largely has to do with the future of the region, differing views on contacts with the US, and Chavez's political ego, looking to become a serious regional political hegemon. That he has to deal with a major US ally so close no doubt irks him to no end. Its pretty obvious that whatever you think of FARC, Chavez is trying to undermine the more politically right leadership in Colombia. Its regional geopolitics at work, and I honestly think its a bit early to think that this kind of sabre rattling is actually going to lead to a war, especially with the European community and the US and their attitude toward FARC and Colombia.
On a more
important level heh, I've been trying to track down sufficient information on Colombia and Venezuela for some time now, and its just not readily available. If it were, I'd have made these OOBs for sure. If people have the information I'd be happy to do the grunt work of putting the OOB together.
