This is always debatable, but I've used wyverns, for instance, to great effect in CB. Try MA Man and use dragon master and you can get a very large force early game. I have used and seen used:
Summon animals
Summon Bane
Summon Sea Dogs
Prison of Fire
Bind Bone Fiends
Harm
Summon Sea lions
... etc.
And that's just the spells.
