[I had the thought of a 6-8 player game, only running during a specific time slot. Not sure if it's what you had in mind, but like a 4 hour run once a week, set to 15m autohost. That would be a minimum of 16 turns per session, with probably a few more than that on the opening night. Most games would probably take 2 weeks, some might take 3.
I don't know about hosting though, that's why I never broached the subject, but here you are in PST suggesting something similar, so I thought I might chime in.
