I'm not sure the multithreading setting does anything... In my testing, turning it on doesn't seem to cause SE5 to create any more threads than with it off, and CPU usage and framerates remained the same.

Another mod you might consider would be FQM. Balance Mod incorporates an older, graphics-lite version of it, but nothing wrong with updating it.
