Of course, there are quite a few that want combat duties, and they do the same things their male counterparts do.

I think that's the difference between "female soldier", and "female military support personnel". I know I'd be annoyed at anyone calling themselves a soldier for going through a 2 week camp on how to properly make your bed, and what an MRE is.
