Make sure troops are researched fairly early, have troopships designed using a standard ship hull instead of a transport, ensure a large number of troops are built in the construct vehicle and construct units files, don't reduce thier physical strength (only takes about 150 sm troops to take a homeworld when you have raised yours to 110, and thiers is only 50). Look at the Orks, Aquilians, Vikings, and Zorians.
