Turn 100: The Krill Homeworld Falls

After 4 repelled attacks of mine on their homeworld, and the discovery that the Krill had shifted to using Fighters for defense, I managed to research up to Point Defense 5. So, knowing that other than fighters they had little defense, I amass a fleet of 8 Point Defense Destroyers, and 2 Destroyers with mixed point defense and DUC 5, and, with 5 krill cruisers sitting off their homeworld adjacent to mine (showing that even TDM races can be dumb in the extreme), I sent my fleet in, called the Crusader Fleet, to get some revenge for all the attacks on my homeworld. The Klingon war chiefs plot and plan, and my destroyers cluster together at maximum distance from their homeworld while the untold scores of fighters emerge. My destroyers are set up to support one another, while the Krill fighters reach my position scattered, with no massing of force in tactical mode. I pick off the Groups of twelve fighters each as they come in, destroying nearly 200 small fighters and 50 medium fighters before all their fighters are destroyed without a scratch on my ships. This shows you that the AI can only do so much, and how powerful PD is.

Then I have 2 ships that have DUCs for attack, so I send my other ships to take out sattelites and use the DUC ships to take out bases. The homeworlds' 3 weapon platforms remain. They manage to take out one of my DUC ships. I have to manage to keep the other one alive so that the krill homeworld has no chance to rebuild. I pull out the other DUC ship, and then bring it back in, but AI blunders again, having latches onto one of my PD ships which now are only useful for fodder at this point. My one remaining DUC ship takes out the weapon platforms. That tactical round ends. Then I use the slightly gamey tactic of using different ships movement points to attack with my one DUC destroyer 15 more times on the homeworld, and it falls.

Funny that its exactly turn 100. I still have to take down another Krill colony while preventing the krill from using there 5 cruiser fleet to knock out my PD ships. And I have to prevent the recolonization of their homeworld.

The Rage have fallen from 2nd to Last, and have no colonies according to my scoresheet. Vikings which I am allied with are 1st. Crysolonite I had to declare war on to keep peace with the Vikings. Now I need to solidify my home system and colonize the krill homeworld as well.
