Excerpt from "The chronicles", Prologue

It all began last midsummer. The druids gathered at the great henge hidden amidst the Carnutes for the ritual divination of the stars. The moss was removed from the stones and the circles of old drawn anew. For one day and one night the druids would study the stars to reveal the impact of fate.
But when the divination of the signs of the day was about to commence the sun was eaten by the shade of the moon. An uneasy silence fell onto the Carnutes for when the crown is seen the balance of the world is reshaped. And the druids waited for the night, speaking not. When it was midnight they looked to the skies again, filled with stars. But they saw how the moon was eaten by its own shade. And again there was silence for a long time. Finally Carvilius who had read the stars for ages raised his voice to recite the prophecy:
"Two eclipses in conjunction.
The king of old will soon be gone.
Old order is crumbling, war is to come
..."
But he could not finish as the druids started to argue and to shout at each other. For a long time the woods echoed from their bickering. When they regained their sense they focused on the stars again to reveal the fate of the tribes in the struggles to come. But the moment was gone and the stars would no longer reveal their wisdom.
And again the druids argued but from this argument they reached a decision. The tribes had to be united and the druids would lead them to the best of their skills. But not until spring would the major tribes listen and many of the smaller tribes still remained independent. So the chieftains of the Marverni, who work the iron, the Ambitate, who stand in the first line, the Eponi, who tame the wild horses, the Sequani, who gaze at the stars, and the Carnutes, who protect the druids, decided to conquer these tribes by force and ready the warriors against the onslaught.
