those pictures were taken in the hight of summer, when all the grass dries up and dies. still its not sand, certinly not like in the Sinai or Negev. its just short and medium grass thats dry. thats why every time we fired our mainguns there the place caught on fire
In the winter its mostly green, and sometimes even snowy. in the spring its still green. actually if i had to describe it, muddy would be my best word
