For Nation mods you might consider pre-building logical useful gods and scales for your nation and placing it as an AI on the map as if it has had a 100 turn headstart (extra starting armies, extra provinces, extra castles, pre-positioned to a highly defendable location). Its pretty simple to close off the top or bottom of a map (much harder to do the sides) so that player nations cannot start in "enemy territory" giving the AI opponent time to expand even further. Oh yeah, and remember that you can also ally AIs with each other. Giving an AI friendly neighbors that can buffer them for abit is also quite nasty to do.
With some of the "xxxxxx nation reborn" mods consider locking out the nation you are replacing. You could also, of course, choose to play your nation as a better-AI aggressor for everyone to beat. Or ask one of the expert players to do so.
Yes yes yes. Creating scenario maps utilizing some of the great nation mods we have available has been on my "do list" for a long time but Im caught up in other things and the creators or fans of those nations can do a better job anyway.
