Actually, it is very easy to explain : Klingons were very impressed by bravery and corage of Captain Archer. Human' facial features become quite fashionable among Klingon' braves almost to the point that pLastic surgeons become wealthiest citizens of Klingon Empire. But, as it always happen, even this commendable fashion disappeared after some time.
It also does explain why Worf declined to discuss the issue - it would admit vanity of Klingon warriors !
