As Gandalf sort of implies, but doesn't state - we use the term WAD around here, because there are many little quirks that do in fact work the way they were coded, even if the code isn't doing what it was "intended" to do. Too many late nights maybe?
Anyway, really egregious bugs get fixed pretty promptly usually (at least when we find them), but sometimes a bug whose origin is deep in the code, but is only a minor effect on gameplay, gets a thorough beating with the "rationalizing" stick, and once we figure out how it makes some obscure sense in the game, it becomes WAD, to differentiate it from a bug or intended feature.
