I don't dispute the validity of your point Dedas, but I think you overstate it.

Repel is not widely used as a tactic for a reason.

Numbers will beat it.
Equal length weapons defeats it. Trampling defeats it. Missiles defeat it.

Not to mention the usual other suspects.
