Yes, the feature works very well, just be a bit careful.
Oh and placing you HQ in a APC is an extra good idea, one of the best. I just always love it! when the enemy does it. |

But actually,as long as you remember to disembark the HQ before hitting the end turn button,having HQ with transport works very well for rally purposes and getting them out of harm's way.

and always keep your HQ far back they ain't frontline troops!
