How so? If you have the same speed as someone else in RL there's no way to catch them unless they slow down. Otherwise all you can do is keep the range from opening up.
The 'crossing squares' thing IS weird though.

True enough for RL chase from the rear. But what about them vectoring at you, but off by two sectors to the left. Shouldn't your course change to meet them? Assume 4 squares apart, and both have 6 movement.
