Re: Hilariously unlikely combat
One time I was attacking Marignon as Shinuyama. It was pretty early in the game and I had a tough little army of O-Bakemono and kappas approaching their capital. Then, suddenly, Marignon's pretender, a sacred statue with astral and air magic, dropped onto my army and attacked it, alone.
With its stone body and protective magic, the statue was just a little too tough for my army to destroy, though the kappas did manage to give it a nice limp with their bone-breaking ability. So they just swung and clawed at it until its constant shock waves finally got it through their heads that their effort was futile. By then there were not many left; a few Bakemono and several kappas fled, and most of these were picked off by mind burns.
But then... the kappas dried up. They naturally gain fatigue when fighting on land, and all of them hit 100 at about the same time. The sacred statue continued frantically blasting them with mind burns or lightning or some such, but it wasn't beating them very quickly, and soon the 50-round limit arrived. The statue routed--but it was still a statue and so it still could not move. And neither could my kappas. So, 25 rounds later, the statue, Marignon's pretender god, simply disintegrated.
