I posted the above when I looked over the first page to review the nations available, and noticed Mictlan wasn't there. Didn't realise you had made some provisos regarding your pick.
Whats the deal with Mictlan? End game Astral Corruption? Aaaanyway I'm not particular proficient/deficient in any given nation but I want to try new stuff with the mod so I'll take whatever priest/magically diverse race thats left

In the EA, there are a few nations I put in the top tier of strength. Niefl. Mictlan. Sauromatia. Lanka, xHeim.
Since part of the idea was to test crusaders, I was willing to take tien chi - but as tienchi essentially plays with an identical bless to mictlan, but with cap only sacred troops, I'm not willing to go up against mictlan in the same scenario.
I was intrigued by the idea of playing a sleeping mother of rivers as TC.
The masters of the way can summon 5 of the new sacreds. Master of the dead another. So the mother of rivers could theorecticall help support 8-12 masters of the way per turn after year 1 - increasing TC's available sacreds significantly.
Since I was going to be using motw as summoning fodder, I was going to go with Magic -3: Not often seen, and a strong dominion. Since TC has available communions, as well as all magic boosters available to it, I was going to use those to counter the magic -3.
Not enough to counter mictlan, however.
Crusader actually makes Mictlan somewhat weaker; there are many spells targetted toward enemy sacreds; and there are many early magic spells which makes cross path answers to mictlan more available to other nations.
