Mostly because early panzers had side armor of 2(IIc and IIIa had 1 IIRC), actually, on a LC i had, i used PTRD/S until 42 when stalingrad was near(tigers appear in 43  ), i love bazookas, they defeat tiger front

Nope - both can cause engine fails. And the panzer 3 rear armour is the
same as the front (class 5). It has some tough buttocks, if you go for the up-the-kilt shot
!.
