WWII wasn't really fought in North America
It was mostly in the Soviet Union and other damp and rainy parts of Europe. And North Africa, well...they had plenty of sand to throw on the fires  And aren't the Pacific Islands and Burma more of a rain forest environment? |
Wildfire seems to be pretty common in countries bordering the Mediterranean: Spain, Southern France, Italy, Greece, etc. It wouldn't be unrealistic to have Battle-of-the-Wilderness-style conflagrations in these regions, though I do imagine it would be hard to portray in-game.
