To the best of my memory this is already being done, albeit I am not sure whether it is for the T-90 or T-72 modernization or some other program altogether. The problem is that Russia does not have a sufficient production capacity of thermal cameras to satisfy the demand: they are necessary for all of kinds of systems, from ATGM firing posts to tanks and helicopters. Therefore an additional supply source is necessary. |
Same here, quoting from memory, but the thermals on the T-90 is Thales Catherine since around 1994, in fact the first thermals installed on a T-90.
Of course, only the thermal element in imported, and integrated in a Russian-designed sight.
I remember seeing Thales tags on other sensors as well, including the new Dozor UAVs.
