Hi! I've been trying to figure out what the "Gryphin position" and "Circling the Wagons" are. In my search so far, I have only discovered numerous vague references to the Gryhin position, and nowhere did I find a clear explaination.
However, here is Gryphin's explaination of "Circling the Wagons", back from January in an old thread. You might be disappointed to find out what it is:

"Circle the wagons" Historically was a form of defense used against bandits / marauders and such. Used in the colloquial it means a group of people banding together to support or protect each other. In the case I was referring to, one of the participants on that board used the expression to explain the actions of the group and its response to a perceived "attack" on them. Someone else "corrected" her because that was how wagon trains of the settlers in the "American West" would defend themselves against the Indians and it might offend a Native American.

The "Gryphin position" is still a mystery, but it seems that: (1) It's fun and very exciting; (2) It involves one or more FBW's; (3) Once you start doing it, it's hard to stop; (4) You need to be extremely fit and healthy to attempt it; and (5) It is somewhat dangerous.
Anyway, in preparation for experiencing the Gryphin position when we do find out what it is, it is suggested that you keep yourself in good physical shape by lifting weights, jogging, swimming, stretching, doing push-ups and sit-ups, cycling, playing sports, etc.
