If you make him your prophet, you can script him that way : Teaching Sign, Fear Not Sign, Fear Not Sign with your troops scripted on Hold and Attack.
So after Teaching Sign your prophet is H4, and since these signs scale with H, not the elemental path, his Fear Not Sign cover 8 squares each (and give a +2 morale boost so he doesn't need to cast Divine Bless), so it's like Arrow Fend for your first army.

I think it's a shame that so many summons lose some of their abilities when leaving their home province, it makes it really difficult to use them offensively (I have the impression that Jomon is much stronger when defending than when attacking)
