Y - then click the
Unit button and it toggles to
Formation, now set range X, now all units in that platoon are now set to range X.
Hot key is F.
Y -> F -> Range therefore sets the same range for all the platoon's units. E.g. I usually do Y-F-1 for a scout platoon
