Another way to try out late game spells, summons and equipment is the
Debug Mod, which lowers all research to zero and gives everyone functionally infinite gems and money as well as potentially all magic paths at 9 on mages.
So if you want to check out exactly how X would fare against Y, all you need to do is play both sides on a small map with that mod on.
