The Private Messaging system on these forums (currently) does not automatically save the PM's you send to your sent folder.
To keep a copy of the PM's you send in your sent box, you need to tick a box below the message in the 'Additional Options' section. The box you need to tick is called something like "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Messages folder". If you tick this box before sending the message, then a copy will be saved in your sent folder.
It's very annoying to have to do that all the time, and many users have asked for sent messages to be saved automatically. But currently they are not, so your only option right now is to manually tick the box each time
