Had a box that I kept on the floor beside my desk, on a short pile carpet.
Opened it after about 3 years - and it seemed to have ingested
half the carpet through its cooling vents. It was absolutely stuffed with compacted felt. Felt is a very good insulator.
It ran
much better thereafter once that was dealt with and it was moved on top of the desk!.
And yes - it had been starting to have random lock-ups/freezes. Entirely due to having the carpet felt stuffing.
