You can ADD them, though! I've added a "meteor shower" event that increases the value of a planet, and a "planet wide festival" that increase planet happiness. The adjustment abilities in the events files can go either positve or negative. Uh, except the destroy star and destroy planet things.
You just have to think up the explanation for the events. I haven't seen the "open warp point" thing work yet, though. It's accepted but seems to just be a dummy right now. I hope it works in the future.
