You've answered your own question here. I don't recall the exact formula, but you can probably find it by doing a search on this forum. But it's heavily weighted towards ships. And not just number of ships, but actual tonnage of ships. A 600Kt battle cruiser adds the same amount to your score as three 200Kt frigates.
Planets IIRC count nothing, although you do get points for resources produced on them. Also each tech you research gets you some points.
